My sister’s and I took our Mom out to dinner for Mother’s Day –

We had a 4th of July BBQ at my brother’s house.
We had a Piccolo family reunion up Hobble Creek Canyon at a large pavilion. Quite a few people stayed and camped on the grass. Some of us older and wiser people drove home to sleep each night. It was fun to get to hang out with family.
We also had a Piccolo girl’s trip where we stayed at a house in Pleasant Grove and most people stayed the night. We played games, talked, had a spa night, a scavenger hunt, pickleball and went out to dinner one of the nights. It was fun doing things with just the girls.
Norm went to the Baron reunion in Garden Valley, Idaho by himself because we were all too busy to go with him. I can’t take very many days off with my new job and we were in the middle of taking turns bringing the vehicles to the shop.
We started out getting the whole entire battery in Bolt replaced due to a major recall. We’ve been really wanting it done since they made it so we could only charge the battery to 80% until it was done. Then while Bolt was getting fixed up, our van’s brakes got really, really bad really fast. They were grinding and the transmission was acting weird. We previously knew the brakes weren’t quite right and the transmission was leaking but it got really bad all at once so we had to take that in right away and that repair took several days since they had to order parts and we had to leave it there over the weekend. Luckily, Bolt’s recall was free and the van cost a lot less than we thought it might.
I didn’t take photos for any of the activities. Oops. . .
Megan has a new part-time job working at The Grid Racing in Pleasant Grove. She does the front desk. It’s a place with really fast go-carts that you have to be at least 14 to ride and it’s pretty expensive. Her family and friends get a 20% discount so let us know if you ever want to go. She gets a free ride every time after her shift ends so that’s a pretty cool perk.
Tyler started a new full-time job a few days ago. He works from 1:20 am to 11:50 am four days a week at the Amazon warehouse in American Fork. I hope it works out for him but it’s a really hard job being on his feet for 10 hours in the middle of the night in a hot warehouse so we’ll see how it goes. The not-fun part for us is trying to be quiet from about 1 pm to 8 pm every day.
He’s trying to earn enough to buy a car and eventually rent a small apartment by himself since it would be hard to have roommates with his schedule and with his diabetes. Does anyone have any advice on finding a good car for under $10k?
Kayla had her birthday about two weeks ago. She had a bunch of friends over for a party, which she was excited about since she hasn’t been in town on her birthday since she was eight. She’s excited to start Orem High next week as a sophmore. She’s most looking forward to choir, drama, Spanish, and her science class. She says she’s excited for everything except for math.
We are busy getting ready for school to start next week. We had to get some new clothes for Ruby because she’s grown several inches since the spring and she also needed a new violin because her 1/2 size was way too small for her. She now has a full-size violin that sounds amazing and is excited to start orchestra at Jr. High next week.
