Since our last update, Ruby has performed in Aladdrin, Jr. at her school. She was Manal, one of Jasmine’s three friends (instead of a tiger). She had a lot of fun but it was a lot of work and she is mostly happy to be done with it, although she misses the fun experiences she had.
She enjoys being on the Student Council at school. Right now they are doing Val-O-Grams as a fundraiser, which is a lot of work, but she enjoys it.
She got her new orthotics a few weeks ago. At first, it felt really weird but now she says she doesn’t really notice it, which is good because it’s not bothering her, but her feet still hurt. The doctor said they could take a few weeks to start feeling better so we will give it a little longer.
Kayla has been busy in school and preparing for District Choir Fest. It’s today. To prepare she had to learn the music mostly by herself and they are rehearsing most of the day today and have a performance tonight.
She really enjoys singing and wants to get better at it and wants to start taking lessons and having more opportunities to sing.
Tyler and I have been going to meetings every Friday morning with a lady who works for a company that helps him figure out what career he wants to do. She has helped him write his resume, helped him research different careers, and helped him figure out he probably doesn’t want to be a police officer.
Right now, he is thinking he would like to be a commercial pilot – but school for that is very expensive. We found one that only takes about 1 to 1.5 years and after graduation, there is a good chance you will get hired by Sky West, who will reimburse you for a pretty large chunk of your tuition and pay you $90 an hour.
But he is still going to have to come up with a nice chunk of change first so he is thinking of going to Mountainland Technical College and getting his EMT certificate. It takes two semesters and is a pretty intense program but it’s quite affordable and after graduating there is a high placement rate with jobs that pay at least $40k a year.
If that works out, he can decide how much he enjoys that job and if he wants to keep doing it or use it to pay for flight school or to do a related field of study.
We went on a tour of the building today and learned more about the program to help him better decide if that’s what he wants to do.
It seems like Megan is almost always in school, working, or at her friend’s house so we don’t see enough of her.
Last week there was a plant swap and sale in Sandy. They have them a few times a year and I think I’ve told you about them before. It kept me really busy last week but I made quite a bit from it. In general, I’ve been shipping a lot more plants this winter than I thought I would and making more money for less work.

Since I can’t seem to stop talking about or thinking about plants I decided I better just start a YouTube channel to get it out of my system and maybe help other people. It’s still a really small channel and the videos are really cringy but I’m getting a little better at making them every time so hopefully, eventually I can make some money at it. If nothing else, I’m having fun making the videos!
