Barons September 18th Update

Megan turned 18 last Sunday and we had a fun party for her with my family at the park. We sure love her and are proud of the woman she is becoming. For this photo, we took out her last braids in preparation for getting new braids.

Here are her cool, new golden braids –

Norm took the day off on Friday because he has like 13 days he needs to use before the end of the year and he doesn’t know how to use them and he isn’t supposed to use more than one day at a time since it’s their busy time of the year.

He was going to go on a hike but it was too muddy from raining a lot of the week so he stayed home and did chores. He ended up spending something like 5 hours trying to fix our new recliner sofa. “Ruby’s” recliner wouldn’t move so we watched YouTube videos and started testing things to narrow down where the problem was.

We basically started at one end of the wiring and ended up at the button controller on the other end, trying to get to it from the inside then Norm figured out how to get to it from the front and easily found the problem –

These two wires had come loose, so he bought a soldering iron, attached the wires back on, and put the whole thing back together. It’s too bad we didn’t start on the other end – but the good thing is we figured out how the chair works and now not if, but when another chair breaks we will have a better idea of where to start. I also am not so afraid of a recliner breaking because we know we can relatively easily fix the chair or buy replacement parts relatively expensive.

We heard back from the other insurance company and they said the Prius is totaled. It’s sad to say goodbye to it for sure since it was such a good little car for us. People said not to take the first offer they gave us but the insurance company has been really good to work with all along and they offered us $15.7k for it and we thought that was a very fair price. (I found one for sale when we were looking for Bolt and it had almost the same miles and year and it was $13k.)

That will pay for almost half of Bolt, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.
