Jan 9th Sister Megan Baron Email

January 9, 2024 //  by Rebecca Baron//  Leave a Comment

This is email #3!

This week was very different, we actually did a lot more door to door finding since people are home from the holidays and settling down now.

Tuesday 2/1/24

We did a lot of finding and contacting people. People are also relatively nice, I’d say it’s like 50/50 either we’re told they’re straight up not interested or they are open to talking with us about religion, I haven’t had any scary/dangerous/crazy experiences yet which is pretty good I’d say! Monday wasn’t too busy, at our dinner appointment though the members shared a thought back which was a pleasant surprise! They don’t normally give us messages back, but I would totally recommend you all to give a message back if you have any missionary dinners!

Wednesday 3/1/24

We had exchanges with the Hermanas in our zone, exchanges is where you swap a sister/elder in a companionship with another sister/elder in a different companionship just to see how each of them is doing and if there’s anything wrong going on. While on exchanges we did a lot more finding and the Hermana that was with us actually taught me a lot from just watching how she teaches and does first contacts. When she explains the Book of Mormon to people she explains it as, “if you had two children, one of them on one side of the world and the other on a different side of the world, would you only talk to one of them? No, and that’s how God is with the scriptures, it’s for all his children to hear”. And I think that has helped a lot more people understand why the Book of Mormon is important, it helped me better know how to explain it too.

We also had a lesson with our Friend Fina. She turned 90 on December 24th and is doing so well! She has such a strong testimony of Jesus Christ already and loves when we come to teach her lessons, she is so amazing. We also met a new potential friend Tomás. Tomás is christian and seemed really willing to have us over again but the problem is he lives in Argentina and was just visiting for a little but, so we asked if he would want to meet with missionaries in Argentina and he said yes! So we’ll have to let the missionaries in the area he lives know that he’s interested. Nothing else notable really happened.

Thursday 4/1/24

There wasn’t too much done this day either, just some meetings, a member lesson, a little bit of finding and then getting and writing a couple emails. My trainers are the sister training leaders so they have a lot of other things they do besides just regular mission work; a lot of coordination, meeting planning, and so on. That’s pretty much what we did all day Thursday so it was really slow.

Friday 5/1/24

We had MLC (mission leadership council) and that took a big chunk of our day. It’s so interesting seeing how some of the behind the scenes of the mission works and how it runs, because it really is just the missionaries in leadership counciling together with the president and his wife about how to help the missionaries with their work, unification, member work, and so on. God’s work is truly amazing and the fact that ALL of us get to partake in it is such a miracle. The fact that he knows we can accomplish great works in our imperfect state should ELEVATE us in our efforts even more!

Saturday 6/1/24

There wasn’t too much that went on, just a lot of finding again, a couple stop bys; that’s where we stop by either an inactive member or someone that was taught and hasn’t been visited in a while; and then a member lesson and another lesson with our dear Fina! This time Fina’s granddaughter sat in on our lesson too, her granddaughter is Muslim but the last lesson we had with Fina we invited Fanza (granddaughter) to join us next time and she did! She also knew a lot more than we expected that she would so I hope that she can become another one of our friends soon!

Sunday 7/1/24

We had our churches, but since there’s the time change, we had to leave to the church by 7:10 for meeting and then just stayed for sacrament service, and our Friend Tom Komrad came to both hours of church! He is one of our friends that is progressing so so SO well! Our closest to baptism. It’s so nice when we have lessons with him, his faith and trust in God is getting so strong. I can’t wait to see how far he’ll go.

Monday 8/1/24

Today was so fun! We actually went to top golf with our district and that was awesome, we played the angry birds game it was great. After top golf, we had Zone Pday where everyone in our zone gets together to hangout; this zone pday we had a hot wheels tournament which was awesome, everyone participated too! It was so funny seeing how hype everyone would get during their cars’ race…unfortunately though I didn’t get a picture of the brackets, but my companion sister Tibbits won!! From the looks of it everyone had a good Pday and hopefully now we’re all ready to get back to doing the Lord’s work tomorrow.

I love all of you and hope you’re doing well! I pray every night that God watches over you. You’re all amazing! And make sure you read the Book of Mormon everyday, it’s also the new Come Follow Me Topic so that makes it easier. I also invite all of you to email me updates and thoughts about how your Come Follow Me and Book of Mormon study go!

Mormon 7:9

“For behold, this is written for the intent that ye may believe that; and if ye believe that ye will believe this also; and if ye believe this ye will know concerning your fathers, and also the marvelous works which were wrought by the power of God among them.”

The Book of Mormon should be your greatest treasure, and if it’s not right now, work to make it the greatest thing in your life!

See you all next week!
