Transfer 5 🫠 Back to Roswell

July 8, 2024 //  by Rebecca Baron//  Leave a Comment

Well… here we are! Transfers again haha, they seem to come by so quickly! Even though this one was a long one, 7 weeks, it went by way wayyyy too fast 😔but here is what all happened within that time!

Week 1:

I pull up to transfers and get my new companion and find out I’m now in social media, so we’re over the mission Facebook page “Faith in Christ in Georgia” so that’s completely new to me, but once we got to the church building and started weekly planning…that’s when I realized everything was immensely different in Lawrenceville than it was in Milton and Webb Bridge. 71 people that are interested that we have to plan for. 71!!! That’s so many!! I’ve never seen so many in my life! And we had more that we were “actively” teaching, I think about 20..so it was a LOT of planning we had to get done.. so for the rest of the week we just did a couple stop bys, and had a few good lessons too! Another interesting thing is that we never really got fed by members which was kind of sad… so it was a bunch of eating at home. Then Sunday came around and I was a little surprised walking into church. The ward is really small, and a lot older. There was 1 child in nursery, so it’s a very small amount of youth in general. But the start of this transfer was getting me excited for a whole new experience!

Week 2:

Sister Smith and I have started getting along extremely well!!  We’ve been teaching so many cool people, I haven’t had this many lessons before so it’s amazing the experience I’ll get with teaching people! We’ve also been getting tons of referrals which is awesome! So this week was lot of contacting people and teaching. I’ve seen my teaching skills grow so much even just from the short amount I’ve been here. And with weekly planning were still weeding through people who are actually interested and people who aren’t..now we’re down to 50 haha

Week 3:

Lots of stop bys and we does a little bit of finding, we also planned some videos for the Facebook page!! It’s going to be so so good!!! We stood a mother’s day one, another musical video, we’ve beth trying to set what missionaries have good talent that we can use for the page right now and brainstorming on ways we can make the page better for missionary use. We’ve also been trying to be more focused on how we can help the Lawrenceville area, how can we grow the ward and find more friends for them? How can we reactivate members? So we’ve had some good talks about that and are becoming completely focused on our mission’s commant to baptize converts every month.

Week 4:

This week was actually pretty busy! We went and filmed the videos for Facebook, and had lots of lessons with some of our new friends we’re teaching! These friends are absolutely amazing! So our top friends right now are Kalani, Janelle, Tiffany and Zy’Arie (a mom and daughter), Pat, and an inactive part member household Jennifer and Tracy. The lessons and interactions We’ve had with all of these bright spirits, has been so spirit building and has shapped my view of a mission. It’s helped me see that there really are people out here wanting to learn more, people who truly are looking for the Gospel they’ve been missing. Just seeing each of their faces light up when we share something that makes sense to them, or something that helps them feel peace and assurance, it helps me to have a greater view and to think celestial as our beloved prophet has said to do.

Week 5

this week was a bit more calm, we’ve been going and doing stop bys to keep clearing out our dots (the people who are interested) and still looking for ways we can grow our missions faith in the Facebook page. This week seemed to have a lot of planning, we planned a lot of lessons, some mission meetings, and did a ton if service. Sister Smith and I have gotten so close! I’m so happy I got to be her companion. I’ve also have been working on my consecration. Thinking of how I can be more consecrated and obedient in my mission, how can I become the missionary the Lord needs me to be? So this transfer I feel my studies have been really good, going into a lot of deep things and figuring out how I can better perfect myself and efforts through Christ.

Week 6:

The weeks are flying by!! This week was another lesson filled and spiritually high week! So many good lessons with our dear friends and making so so many close and trustworthy relationships, both our spirits have been boosted and our efforts multiplied! We’ve done so so much and are excited to continue doing more in Lawrenceville! We’re pretty certain we’re going to stay because of how much headway we’ve made! And with planning we’re finally down to a manageable amount of people haha, 30-40 interested people and our 10 top progressing friends!! Its been going fantastic!

Week 7:

Transfers is coming! We’re pretty certain we’re staying so we’ve been telling people we are and just planning some last minute details and such for our training we give to the new missionaries, we’re having some last lessons and making huge plans for the Facebook. We had a call with one of the most successful mission Facebook pages and they gave us wonderful insights! And we got so much revelation from it and are so excited to put things in motion! But, we still have to hear our transfer news.

Transfer news was CRAZY!! Neither Sister Smith or myself thought we’d be transfered. Let alone BOTH of us! Here’s how it went down:

Our mission is starting a new thing with transfer calls, we all get on a zoom call with everyone’s cameras and microphones off while President and Sister Judd are reading off where everyone will be.

President is reading through the list and says “Sister Cooper-Leavitt you be going to ____ and your companion will be Sister Smith” both of us sit there for a second and then it clicks “OH!! That’s you!!” We’re surprised and a little sad, but keep listening thinking that I will be staying.

President reads some more and says ” Sister Zoglio you’ll be staying and your companion will be Sister Baron and you’ll be the STLs in the area” I FLEW out of the chair I was sitting in. Absolutely launched myself and both if us dumbfounded at what we heard. But we then go back to listening.

President reads even more and says that Elders will be replacing the Lawrenceville Sisters. So now they’ve got 2 sets of Elders in Lawrenceville which will be interesting… nevertheless the Lord has a plan for them.

So now I’m back in Roswell, in the same apartment I was born in (started my mission in) and in the same bed I used sleep in, and back in leadership… it kind of feels like I’m taking some steps back honestly, even though I’m in a different area and the zone is pretty different. But I guess there’s some work for me to do here still, I just have to find it.

My time in Lawrenceville was really good for my growth, and I’m hoping I don’t get stuck in the idea of being back here that I don’t put my growth to use. I want to keep doing more, but I just need to figure out how I can do that again in an area I’m very familiar with.

But on another note! I’ve been out 6 months!!! A little over now that crazy!! The time flies so fast on the mission, and before I know it I’m going to be standing before you all at church. I’m really wanting to make my mission the best I can make it. I hope you all are doing well! Keep reading your scriptures, praying, and going to church! Doing those things will bless you so much! I’m excited to tell y’all about my adventures this transfer in my next email! So look forward to it!!

See you all next month 🩷🩷
