Rebecca August 14th Update

The last two weeks have been busy as we feel like we’ve been trying to fit everything in since we don’t have any trips and haven’t been sick.

Here are a few fun things we did –

  • Went to Newsies Jr. at Hale Theatre
  • Ruby and Kayla went swimming a lot
  • Kayla had her birthday celebration. It started with some movies and an electric scooter ride to Riverwoods.
  • She chose an experience gift instead of a present and did something she’s been wanting to do for a long time – we went to a fish spa. You stick your feet in a fish tank and Dr. Fish suck your dead skin off your feet or hands. She invited her cousins Kate and Eliza and we had lots of fun.
  • After the fish spa we met Angela at Mod Pizza in America Fork and got pizza and salads and then went to a really good snow cone place in Alpine for dessert. Then the girls had a birthday sleepover at Angela’s apartment.
  • We went to the African Festival at the Orem mall, Kayla saw Sound of Music at the Scera Shell three times all the way through and 3-4 times halfway through. (She volunteers there twice a week.)
  • Megan went to FSY this week. It was on BYU campus so she got to stay in the dorms and do lots of fun activities with other teenagers. She didn’t know anyone except Eliza and she only saw her once so she was awesome and made lots of new friends.
  • We met Laurel and Rachel and their children twice at a park in Vineyard and had a good time chatting and watching the children play on the splash pad and playground.
  • This Friday we had a fun day of swimming with cousins and then splitting into groups and going to our house and Laurel’s house for more fun.
  • Ruby had fun on Saturday going to Emma and Jacob’s birthday party. Kayla went to a Ninja Gym with Kate’s family.
  • I took Ruby to the foot doctor to figure out why her pain from surgery is getting worse when it has been 8 months and 12 months since her surgeries. He did x-rays and blood work to rule out a bunch of things, including arthritis, but he couldn’t find anything wrong except tendonitis so pretty much our only option at this time is to try physical therapy. She’s really not excited about it since by the end of the day she often can barely walk since it hurts so much but she’s going to have to give it a try so we can eventually get through this.
  • Kayla started doing Kumon in May to help her catch up on math. She goes on Mon. and Wed. and does a worksheet and corrects past ones then she gets worksheets to do at home on Tue., Thur. and Friday. She’s doing really well and progressing quickly. Last week she got a Certificate of Achievement for already completing a level.

School starts this Wed. for Kayla and Ruby. When does your school start?

  1. I did the fish spa in Mexico but I really didn’t like it. Creepy!😳
I’m sorry to hear Ruby is still in pain.
Sounds like lots of fun activities.
